Cross-Country With First Commonwealth Clash Points

The ACC Championships were run this morning. VT's Peter Seufer repeated as the men's champion by blowing the field away with a huge 39 second margin over the second place runner. VT and UVa tied in the team scoring for 3rd place but VT is listed as finishing 3rd and UVa 4th. I had always thought that the tiebreaker is the placement of each team's sixth runner (only the top 5 runners count in the team scoring) but that would have given UVa the edge. They must use a different measure such as the average time for the first 5 runners (we had the edge).

On the women's side, Sara Freix led us to a 4th place finish well ahead of the Hoos. It looks like we picked up 2 big points in the Clash. The women's win was expected but we were ranked slightly behind the Hoos on the men's side. A good day for the Hokies!
